Traffic Rules For Electric Bicycles

When traveling on roads, electric bicycles must comply with the following traffic regulations:
Travel Rules
Electric bicycles shall travel within bicycle lanes. On roads without bicycle lanes, they shall travel along the right side of the roadway, in accordance with Article 57 of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China.
The maximum speed of electric bicycles shall not exceed fifteen kilometers per hour, as stipulated in Article 58 of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China.
When crossing motor vehicle lanes, riders must dismount and push their bicycles. Where pedestrian crossings or pedestrian crossing facilities are available, they must be used.


Rider and Passenger Rules
Electric bicycle riders must be at least 16 years of age to ensure safe operation.
Electric bicycles shall not carry passengers to ensure stability and safety during operation.


Other Rules
Electric bicycles must obey traffic signal regulations. When crossing uncontrolled crosswalks, riders must watch for vehicles and shall not chase or run recklessly.
Where no crosswalk exists, electric bicycles must proceed straight through and must not suddenly cross when vehicles are approaching.
Where pedestrian overpasses or underpasses are available, electric bicycles must use them.


Electric bicycles shall be parked in designated areas. Where no parking area is provided, parking must not obstruct other vehicles or pedestrians, in accordance with Article 59 of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China.


Electric bicycle riders violating the above traffic rules may face warnings or fines ranging from five to fifty yuan, as stipulated in Article 89 of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China. If a non-motorized vehicle rider refuses to accept the fine, relevant authorities may impound the non-motorized vehicle.


In summary, electric bicycle riders must strictly adhere to traffic regulations to ensure their own safety and that of others, collectively maintaining orderly traffic conditions.
